vintage trunk.

As mentioned previously in my blog, I've been wanting to do a post on my vintage trunk for a while. It's probably my most favourite and treasured of all my possessions. Not only do I think it's absolutely beautiful in it's own antique way, it doubles as a storage space for all my other belongings.

When I bought it, the lady at the shop told me that it came floating off from the Titanic. I don't think that it's completely true, but sometimes when I'm feeling fanciful I do believe it.

Below are some pictures for Antique Trunk placement ideas:

I think all of these ideas are gorgeous! Put a trunk by the foot of the bed, as a bedside table, or use it as a coffee table. Don't forget about that extra storage! Vintage trunks are really quite useful, you know.

license plates.

I first started collecting license plates when I went to Quebec in 2012 with my Grade 12 French Class. I thought it would be a fun way to see the places that I've been in Canada. Plus, they look so darn cool! The next addition to my license plate family was added this past June in British Columbia. Then I decided that I should probably get one from Ontario because I live here.

So far I've only been to 3 provinces in Canada. I'm willing to admit it's not that impressive. Here's to a bigger, brighter, and more well-travelled future!

Isn't that bird house tres adorable? I think so. I don't know if I could bear to bend or damage the license plates in any way, shape, or form...but it's nice to dream, isn't it? :]

Happy travelling/collecting!

mirror.

Let me introduce you to my golden, vintage, oblong mirror! I bought this at yet another garage sale a couple summers ago. It has a little chip out of the bottom of the frame but that's nothing a little lovin' can't fix.

Below are some pictures for Mirror Management:

There isn't a ton of different stuff that you can do with mirrors other than re-paint them or hang them up. Sigh...I tried my best :]

shutters.

The other summer, I went to a town-wide garage sale known as the legendary "Caledonia Garage Sales". I purchased these white shutters for the price of $5. Ever since, they have been lonely & forlorn at the bottom of my antique trunk (which I hope to do a post on later :] ).

Below are some pictures and links for some Upcycled Shutter inspiration:

I hope this post didn't make you SHUTTER. Sorry. It...it just had to be said.

teacups.

My "mother-in-law" bought me these gorgeous teacups and saucers for Christmas! I almost never want to use them, that's how gorgeous they actually are.

How beautiful is that candle holder though?! Definitely heading over to Value Village soon! The items on my list: 4 matching teacups & 1 fantastic candleholder.

And OH MY! Teacup candles! The video below will show you how to make them. What a great gift idea!

You know, I could just drink out of them like a normal person instead of having to incessantly make my life into one big craft project :)

suitcases.

Last summer, I bought this this beautiful, brown, polka-dot suitcase at an antique store.

Vintage Brown Polka-Dot Suitcase

Now that I have this beautiful, brown, polka-dot suitcase, I've been trying to think of ways to put it to good use (other than the obvious use of actually moving it to transport my clothes to-and-fro :] ).

Here's a DIY video on how to make a necklace display using an old suitcase!

Seeing as most of these ideas need more than 1 suitcase, I guess I have a little bit of antique-ing to do! Man, I hate it when that happens :]
